Short answer

Combine 5 Golden pets into 1 Diamond pet, then 5 Diamond pets into 1 Rainbow. That's 25 Golden pets for every Rainbow, so you need lots of copies of the same pet.

The crafting chain

Golden pets come from the Golden machines (Desert Island and Shadow Realm). Diamond pets are made at the Diamond machine in the Crystal Cave, and Rainbow pets at the Rainbow machine in the Shadow Realm.

Each step takes 5 of the previous tier, so 1 Rainbow = 5 Diamond = 25 Golden.

Plan before you hatch

Pick one strong pet and hatch it repeatedly rather than spreading out. If you already have some Diamond pets, you need fewer Goldens: each Diamond saves you 5.
